This critical time has affected a lot to all across the globe. Specially the poor and middle class society of rural and urban India. Some of them have lost their jobs or salary has cut down, wages are also not that much as the mediator are not getting profit, many small scale business are almost finished and so on. Many migrant who have come back from their natives are forced to go back home due to fearful situation around. The schools and colleges are again shut down and children are again studying remotely.

Though the situation is getting worse, the private schools and colleges are not understand the situation of the middle class families and still taking the high fees for the online education. In most of the cases we have observed that the school and colleges are not able to teach effectively over the virtual classes. The teachers are not well trained to be taught over online platform, some of them are not friendly using the software. In such crisis situation the education of the rural and/or urban students has stopped.

GVT has not stopped supporting in this critical time, (though we have not specified budget for this project) we have continuously supporting the students. In earlier time we have gathered few smart phones and have distributed to our beneficiaries for the online education. We have supported our students by paying their educational fees and also helped them by buying educational materials for them.

As almost a year has passed with this situation, students are not able to understand what will be the decision of the government whether to give examination or not, they have not able to attend the classes or college or school has not taken the virtual classes seriously. The education system has really damaged due to covid-19 and it is affecting the students’ future.

We are in the support of the education and we take small steps to save a single child’s future. Let us come together in this crisis situation and save every children of the rural poor children.

Education Resumes

The education scenario now days has changed totally. Everything is getting online and students have to adjust it whether they have the supportive equipment or not. Through the support of likeminded people Gram Vikas Trust (GVT) has able to collect some few smart phones and distributed among our beneficiaries, as they were not having any such devices or they were not able to manage to buy them.

In this report GVT wants to share about Kamlesh (Name Changed), student of class 11 in Jhagadia block of Bharuch district. He is good at studies and with support of GVT he was benefited by bicycle and other educational materials before Covid-19. He used to attend class regularly and he was in touch with our Field Team. But due to Covid-19 pandemic the whole education got online and he was not able to attend it. He is staying in a small hut and do not have TV or smart phone in the family so he was facing difficulty to attend his classes.

Our team members helped him by clubbing him with one of his classmate in nearby village, where he started going regularly to attend his classes online. But few days back in his village some people find Covid-19 positive and it was difficult for him to visit the other village. Parents and other villagers were not finding it safe for him and for other villagers also so he stopped going to his friend’s house.

In this period at GVT received some of the smart phone, and Kamlesh was in the top priority to give the smart phone. Though the phone’s condition is good but some battery issue is there but still Kamlesh is very happy by receiving it. He installed some of the important application for his study and our team mates are in daily contact for any concerns if he finds.

Till date GVT has given smart phones, tablets and some of the reading materials to the needy one who can able to resume their study in this critical times. Though it is a small steps in getting the education resume but still it has given a strong impact on the students and families. At GVT we are still in need of collecting the devices to help the students, if you people can support by donating some amount of money than it will really help the students in their studies.

Story of Prakash

We at Gram Vikas Trust, hope for the best health of yours while reading this. The global Pandemic has almost changed many lives in the world. As you definitely aware with the situation that many people has left their jobs and facing other socio-economic crisis. In this report GVT wants to share about our students, as the colleges and schools are not functioning and all our students are at their home only. Some of the students have forced to work in the field or at small scale companies to support in family’s income.

We at GVT, are continuously in touch with our students as the situation may force the students to quit their studies. The reasons may be different from one students to another, such as lack of income due to Covid-19, peer pressure, lack of resources for online studies and so on. But if they left their studies in between, they might not able to grab the chance to change their future.

Prakash (name changed) is continuing his last year in B.com, who was having a featured phone till last month, he was not able to afford smart phone. While discussing with him, we came to know that he was not able to watch the lessons shared by his college on regular basis due to featured phone. He some time borrow his friends phone to watch the lessons, but he was not able to use it on regular basis. To solve this issue, one of our stakeholder from the same village, donated one smart phone to Prakash, and the stakeholder took the responsibility to recharge for internet so that he can watch his classes online. Prakash is good at studies, but the financial condition might have pushed him back and may force him to quit his studies if he may not supported on time.

Like Prakash, there are other students also who may not be able to study due to lack of resources and poor financial condition of the family, which may force them to drop out from their studies. You can support such students by some amount of money. Which will definitely going to help the student in need, to save his future.
