SAMPARC Children’s home, Bhaje for the care of 116 orphan, poor, needy and disadvantaged girl children is situated at the footstep of famous Bhaje Caves, 10Km from Lonavala, District Pune, Maharashtra, India.
The Children’s home was started with 7 orphan children and Mr. Amitkumar Banerjee and Mrs. Lata Pande laid the foundation of the organization in a mud house in the year 1990 at the footsteps of famous Bhaje Caves near Lonavla.
The children’s upbringing and education is in a family environment of care and protection of Project Incharge, Counselor, Social Workers, House Mothers and Tutors who work with the children under guidance and help of Mrs. Ratna Banerjee, Founder Trustee and coordinator of the Project.
In the context of spread of COVID-19 and the advisories issued by National & State Government, SAMPARC is taking all necessary precautions and measures to ensure safety of our all children and staff working in the Orphanage. We have closed entry of Staff coming from outside and others since March 15th 2020 for the safety of our Children and project staff. With our Present Number of House-Mother, Counselors, and In-charge who live in the Centre we are taking care of the Children. No one is allowed to go outside and no one is allowed to enter Children’s Home. We are coordinating supplies to the Centre very properly from our Head Office. The project staff is taking all measures to ensure safety of children during this crisis period by following all rules laid down by the Government of India. All safety precautions are being followed to ensure children are safe and healthy. All the children understand the situation and are listening to instructions properly.
ACADEMICS-
During this period results of children who appeared for 10th std SSC Board exam and 12th std HSC Board exam for the academic year 2019-20 were declared and following are the details of the same-
13 children appeared for 10th std SSC Board exam and all students have passed the same successfully and Priyanka has topped in her School & SAMPARC Children’s Home with 91.40% marks.
14 children appeared for 12th std HSC Board examinations and all the children have passed the Board exams successfully except 2 children who were unable to pass 12th std. Durga has topped her college & SAMPARC Children’s Home in 12th Commerce with 82.76%.
Due to Covid-19, children are not attending school. Children daily complete their home assignment given by their school teacher on Whats App and also with the help of Whats App staff share the homework to the school teachers. Staff are taking care of children education & also children are cooperating with staff. Inhouse staff are conducting classes for children and teaching the syllabus. Some senior children are helping staff to teach small children.
Also Spoken English class, computer class, General Knowledge class and Reasoning class are conducted by inhouse staff. The Children’s Home has a good library and children are utilizing the Library efficiently during free time.
Children spend free time by playing indoor games, drawing, painting and also some children enjoy craft work. Children also enjoy watching T.V by maintaining social distance.
