Safe drinking water is a fundamental right for people. But unfortunately, 780 million people of the world do not have access to improved or safe drinking water sources(https://www.cdc.gov/healthywater/global/wash_statistics.html#:~:text=An%20estimated%20790%20million%20people,access%20to%20adequate%20sanitation%2015.). Most of the people of Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh are lacked of safe drinking water. In maximum cases, they drink pond water directly without even purifying it. As a result, those marginal people fall in trouble and suffer much.
Considering the situation, Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) started safe drinking water support activities in 2015. BEDS tried to improve the traditional water purification technique (Pond Sand and Filter system) and established 3 Solar powered Pond Sand and Filter systems in three villages of Sundarbans coastal region. BEDS also introduced two Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems with Water ATM. Around 4594 villagers are getting safe drinking water from our support. But huge numbers of villagers are still deprived of safe drinking water. We should do something for those underprivileged people. World Water Day-2021 is coming very soon (22 March). So, we are requesting all our donors to stand beside the poor coastal deprived villagers on that occasion. It is also our request to all our donors to start monthly recurring donation from now.
