Since the Typhoon Hagibis hit Ohsato town in 2019, JISP has been working with the community to provide different forms of support to strengthen affected community's resilience from within!
This week, our Kitchen Car visited Nakakasukawa District in Ohsato town where the elderly residents were actively engaging in "Iki Iki 100 Years Old Exercise (Iki 100")" (an excercises program developed by a Japanese Physical Therapist to prevent elderly people to live a healthy and lively life without a need of receiving nusing care). The weather was very pleasant and the temperature was over 20°C in the morning, however, the temperature soard up to over 30°C during the day, so adequate hydration was essential. When everyone finished the exercises in good spirits, we served Lassi from our Kitchen Car to prevent heat stroke, and the residents were overjoyed with the delicious treat after good excercises!
Ohsato town is currently in the middle of rice planting season... One of our staff members approached an elderly man in a trucker who had just passed by our Kitchen Car. He told us that there had been a frost the other day and that he had suffered frost damage. He also said that 80% of his apples suffered frost damage, and he was very disappointed. While listening to his story, we offered coffee from our kitchen car to quench his thirst. We'll be continuing to operate our support activities, cherishing the relationships that our Kitchen Car bring together.
We would like to thank you again and again for taking interest in our project, for reading our report, for your contibutions and your continued support.
