In June 2025, baby Briseyda was born in Tecpán, Chimaltenango. When her mother, Elsa Judith, first saw her baby’s cleft lip, she felt overwhelmed with sadness and fear. Despite attending several prenatal checkups, no one had told her about her baby’s condition, and she didn’t know where to turn for help.
Thanks to a referral from the local hospital, Biseyda’s family connected with Partner for Surgery’s Cleft Infant Nutrition Program, where Health Promoter Johanna began providing personalized guidance and monthly home visits. With access to fortified milk and feeding support, baby Briseyda began gaining strength — and in just three weeks, she gained one full pound, a key milestone toward being healthy enough for surgery.
“The milk has helped her so much,” shared Briseyda’s mother. “She’s healthy and beautiful — we’re so grateful.”
If her steady progress continues, Briseyda will be ready for her first surgery in December 2025, joining more than 200 infants currently supported through our Nutrition Program across Guatemala.
Your continued support makes these transformations possible — turning fear into hope and helping babies like Briseyda take their first steps toward healing.
