Join our journey in lifting the spirits of Lebanese children with special needs this Christmas season. This project aims to bring a smile to the faces of children with special needs, whose homes and education were affected by the Beirut explosion, by providing them with an individual gift box, each including a tablet, educative tool and school supplies, enabling them to continue their online studies. In challenging year in Lebanon, these children need our love, care and attention more than ever.
The crises facing Lebanon, including economic decline, COVID-19, and the impact of the devastating explosion in Beirut, have brought stress and trauma to children. The closure of schools due to COVID-19, and the damage caused by the explosion, brought a disruption in quality education. The abrupt shift to online learning meant children needed access to online educational tools. But, this was often beyond the reach of schools and families, including Blessed School-damaged by the blast in Beirut.
This project enhances the online learning experience of 65 children with special needs at Blessed School in Beirut, making it more enjoyable and effective. With a tablet, children with special needs will have equal opportunity to access online classes, connect with their tutors and peers, improve their motor skills, and benefit from a wide range of disability-friendly applications and features. With trained shadow teachers, children will receive better guidance and unleash their full potential.
The project contributes to Adyan's mission in achieving societies that are more inclusive; where children with special needs enjoy their rights in equal learning. On a longer term, Adyan's response to Beirut explosion will include education for children with special needs as a priority area. We will enhance their online education and emotional well-being, and collaborate with other organizations to support children with special needs, all over Lebanon, with digital education technologies.
