One year ago, we launched the project “Support Children with Disabilities in Ukraine” on GlobalGiving. Over this time, you have raised $4,940 for it. We thank everyone who stood with us throughout the year. Your support is the foundation on which our work for children with disabilities and their mothers rests during this difficult time for Ukraine.
Now we would like to share what your support made possible over the past three months.
Two mothers raising children with disabilities in difficult life circumstances received seven consultations with a professional psychologist. Raising a child with a disability means years of worry, medical appointments, and exhaustion that few people have a chance to talk about. The consultations gave these women a safe space to speak openly about their feelings and regain their strength.
Eleven children with disabilities and special educational needs attended individual and group developmental and therapeutic sessions. This is the heart of our project, because it is here that each child, step by step, gains skills that come easily to many other children. Active games, coordination and balance exercises, jumping, swinging, and ball games build physical strength and confidence in movement. Sensory activities and fine motor exercises prepare little hands for everyday tasks. Creative, cognitive, and board games strengthen attention and thinking, and help children learn to interact with others. Emotional regulation exercises teach children to recognize their feelings and manage them calmly, while self-care skills help them become more independent in daily life. Every skill a child masters opens the way to the next one.
We also supported several families at home. A social worker visited them, helped mothers with household tasks, offered psychological support, and worked with the children in a familiar, safe environment. For mothers who find it hard to leave the house, this help is especially important. It brings a few peaceful hours and the feeling that someone nearby understands.
For creative activities, we purchased acrylic paints and canvases for USD 149,78. They give children a way to express what they cannot yet put into words: to choose a color, to try, to do it their own way.
Thank you, our dear donors. Your contribution gave children with disabilities the chance to develop and helped their mothers feel that they are not alone. We are sincerely grateful for your trust and generosity. There is still much work ahead. We will continue to support children with disabilities, their families, and the mothers raising them, and we will keep you honestly informed about every step. Together with you, we will help these children grow up confident, and their families will always have someone to lean on.
Thank you for being with us.
