During the reporting period, our team continued implementing the Support Children with Disabilities in Ukraine project, providing assistance to families raising children with disabilities. Through this initiative, families received comprehensive social and emotional support aimed at reducing caregiver burden, strengthening mothers’ emotional well-being, and creating safe conditions for children’s development.
Many families caring for children with disabilities face significant daily challenges, balancing caregiving responsibilities, rehabilitation appointments, and household needs. To address these challenges, the project focused on providing individualized support directly in families’ homes. This approach allowed us to respond to each family’s unique needs while minimizing additional stress associated with travel and accessing services outside the home.
As part of the project, home visits were provided to four families raising children with disabilities. During these visits, our team conducted needs assessments, provided social support services, and offered guidance tailored to each family’s circumstances. Mothers also participated in sessions with a coach and an art therapist designed to reduce emotional exhaustion, improve emotional well-being, and help them build personal resilience. At the same time, a social worker provided care and supervision for the children with disabilities.
A total of 13 hours of social support services were delivered to the four participating families. The total cost of these services was 200 USD.
In addition, the project purchased 16 canvases valued at 60 USD for creative developmental activities for children. These materials were used during art-based sessions that encouraged self-expression, sensory development, creativity, and emotional regulation.
Your support made it possible to provide in-home assistance to children with disabilities and their families. These services contributed to children’s development, improved emotional well-being, and increased access to essential support within a familiar and safe environment. At the same time, the project helped reduce the daily burden on caregivers and strengthened families’ ability to meet the needs of their children.
We are deeply grateful to all donors who support the Support Children with Disabilities in Ukraine project. Your generosity helps families raising children with disabilities access the support, stability, and resources they need to navigate everyday challenges and build a better future for their children.
