In recent months, Kyiv has been experiencing a humanitarian crisis, with blackouts following enemy attacks. Heating, water and the ability to cook food or charge essential devices have become unavailable. For families raising children with disabilities, this is not just an 'inconvenience', but a daily challenge where they must maintain their household while also providing care, treatment and stability for their child.
With your support, we can provide these families with essential items such as hygiene products, diapers, child nutrition and devices to help them maintain energy independence during power outages.
Since the project launch in October 2025, $2,942 has been raised. During this time, $579.46 has been spent on 5 individual Care Packages for 5 families, leaving $2,362.54 for upcoming purchases. Each package was assembled according to the specific needs of the family, but all of them had a similar critical requirement for the winter, due to the lack of electricity: heating, lighting devices, and basic hygiene products.
The family of Alla and Yuriy from Kyiv was one of the families that received Care Package.
Alla and Yuriy are raising two children, Alina and Daniil. Alina has a physical disability and needs full-time care, regular rehabilitation sessions, and special medical equipment. Alla works full-time, and her husband provides care for Alina and accompanies her to classes, rehabilitation sessions, and medical appointments, which prevents him from working full-time. Care Package covered some of the basic needs—hygiene products, daily necessities, and devices for maintaining energy independence during blackouts—which allowed the family to redirect their resources and focus on caregiving.
We are grateful to all of our GlobalGiving donors. You have provided real, concrete support to Ukrainian children and their families during the hardest of times. In the next quarter, we will continue to deliver individual care packages in Kyiv, focusing on families who are in urgent need of support. We will also continue to adapt the packages according to the season and the recipients' needs.
Thank you for being with us during this difficult time!
