Lebanon is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Over 346,000 people have been displaced due to escalating violence, and children are bearing the brunt of this devastation. Families are struggling without access to essential services like healthcare, clean water, and shelter. Schools remain closed, and the need for support is growing by the hour. UNICEF is on the ground leading life-saving efforts and delivering vial supplies to those in need.
In this war, as in all wars, it is children who suffer the most. Since the escalation of the conflict, children and communities in Lebanon are witnessing the deadliest period in a generation in the country. More than 346,000 people have been internally displaced, including 121,000 children. The mass displacement has strained schools, which are now indefinitely closed, leaving children at home and facing uncertainty. Moreover, the latest attacked are overstretching health facilities.
UNICEF has been on the ground in Lebanon for more than 70 years working to meet children's basic needs. In response to recent conflict escalation, UNICEF and partners aims to assist 200,000 affected individuals, including 66,000 children, by strengthening capacity in hotspot areas and integrating emergency plans to support up to one million people if needed. The response will focus on children's health, nutrition, protection, education, and hygiene.
UNICEF urgently needs flexible funding to respond swiftly and effectively to the needs of children and families in Lebanon. UNICEF and partners on the ground are scaling up the emergency response for children in need to ensure that additional staff and supplies are available.
