Every month thousands of children reach out to Childline Thailand for emergency assistance. Our Call Centre is online 24/7 and we receive calls and messages from vulnerable children asking for help every 15 minutes. Childline provides all of its services for free, including professional counselling. links to emergency services, case management, and legal assistance to children and youths under 18 years of age.
Children face loneliness, family conflicts, and severe abuse, often with no trusted adult to turn to. Such abuse leaves deep, lasting emotional scars. In today's digital age, children also confront cyberbullying and online exploitation. In 2022, over 400,000 children experienced online sexual exploitation, yet only 1-3% reported it. UNICEF research shows that 47% of children would not know where to seek help, highlighting a critical lack of accessible support.
Childline Thailand provides a safe 24/7 helpline, online counseling, and guidance to children and families. Trained staff in Clinical Psychology and Sociology listen, advise, and help children navigate challenges safely. By offering trusted, reliable support, the helpline ensures children know where to turn, addressing both everyday struggles and serious risks, including online abuse.
This project will provide trusted 24/7 support to over 40,000-50,000 children each year, a number that continues to rise annually. Over time, hundreds of thousands of children will gain access to safety, counselling, and protection from abuse and online risks. The helpline strengthens children's long-term well-being, helping them grow into safer, healthier, and more resilient adults.
