In the past three months, we continued working behind the scenes to establish a shared psychological support service for frontline staff at three of our partner organisations in northern Botswana: Bana Ba Letsatsi, Polokong Elderly Care Centre, and Women Against Rape. We are delighted to report that leaders from all three organisations recently came together to reaffirm their commitment to this project. Their renewed pledge is a powerful sign of shared ownership and a strong vote of confidence in what we are building together. Anyone who works on the ground with vulnerable communities knows that this work is deeply rewarding, but also emotionally exhausting. Our partners’ teams give so much of themselves to others, and they deserve support in return. Our goal is simple: by caring for the mental health of frontline staff, we are building a stronger, healthier, and more sustainable foundation for the communities they serve. We are now working to secure the remaining resources needed to launch the service. Once funding is in place, our first step will be to hire a qualified psychologist and officially open the service. We are proud of how these organisations have joined forces to prioritise mental health. Their commitment reminds us that we cannot deliver high-quality support to our beneficiaries unless we first support each other.
