Work on our Working Donkey Welfare Programme continues steadily in the communities we serve. These donkeys remain essential to daily livelihoods, and our focus remains on improving their welfare through practical support, education, and sustainable solutions.
Education continues to be one of our most important tools. Changing long standing practices takes time, patience, and consistent engagement, but ongoing conversations and practical demonstrations are helping to build understanding around proper care, humane working practices, and the importance of correctly fitted harnessing.
Progress is also being made on infrastructure and resources. A borehole has been dug, with the intention of enabling the installation of water stations in key areas where working donkeys spend long hours. Access to clean water is a vital welfare component, particularly during hotter months.
Alongside this, our team continues the production and development of kinder, more suitable harness materials. These reduce injury, pressure wounds, and long term pain, while still meeting the practical needs of owners who rely on their animals for transport and work.
Fundraising for this programme remains focused specifically on the needs of working donkeys. Every contribution, no matter the size, directly supports education, welfare improvements, and practical interventions that benefit both animals and the communities that depend on them.
Thank you for continuing to stand with us and for helping keep this vital work moving forward.
