Our teens flying high with their achievements

By Pallavi Shinde | Administrative Officer

Sapna studying in her first year of diploma in Bakery and Confectionary from SNDT, successfully completed her theory part of the course (first term examination) and passed with satisfactory grades as compared to her first time orientation with such a professional classroom environment and technical subjects. She also tried to implement what she was taught in the college by doing and serving some of the innovative recipes, and forms of yummy cakes and this time we felt the difference in the taste in what she used to make some time ago before enrollment to this course. Due to her passion for kitchen and perfection in her daily kitchen duties, we are trying to motivate her to experiment more in terms of cooking, and presenting the food that she has prepared in a professional way which involves creative garnishing and suitable decoration. She has learned many types of cakes both icing and non-icing, variety of fruit cakes, and other bakery items and has gained adequate mastery and expertise in proportion while choosing ingredients for preparation of a certain food-item. We are doing our role of a facilitator well in this aspect by involving and extracting her maximum participation in all cooking related tasks, to sharpen her theory knowledge, information and skills. Theory remains just a collection of words if not blended properly with practice or its application in the real life situations. This mantra has always persuaded us to provide best possible opportunities which will be supportive to what they are learning currently.

Sudarshan and Kajal  have been appearing for their HSC examination out of which they have already given English paper yesterday. This is the show time for them where they will be tested thoroughly for every moment they have invested for whole one year on their studies and all the hard work and dedication they have shown towards their academics. We have a full faith on both of them, and we are confident on their capabilities to cope up successfully with their study related pressures and demands. This time we tried to provide a different kind of exposure to Sudarshan in form of taking him out to one of the similar orphanages in Pabal region, named ‘Vidyanashram” which is working for the rehabilitation of slightly bigger children in form of providing vocational training courses such as welding, plumbing, bakery products etc. This exposure trip provided him with an idea about the various mediums of rehabilitation which are available other than ours organization.

Shreyas  is completing his 11th standard from Poona College in Pune camp smoothly and according to our evaluation of the overall situation and educational follow-up visits time to time, He is performing well in his academics. His attendance, assignments submission, performance in the internal projects and viva-voice examinations, written tutorials, as well as participation in other extracurricular college activities and work are more than satisfactory. Apart from it, He is investing his time more meaningfully than others by enthusiastically participating in the Tabla class at Gokul and on every weekend no matter whether class is there or not, He regularly visits our residential center to get time for ‘riyaz’ (practice) on Tabla, in order to perfect his skills and mastery over this instrument. His passion for music is reflected from this observed fact. Shreyas is also considerably active and spares enough time for his ‘Learn and Earn Scheme’ run by ‘Vidyarthi Sahayyak Samiti’ and so far, he has done a variety of work suitable to his health conditions such as distributing pamplets, brochures for one private tutuion in Pune at prominent places such as Pune railway station, which has earned him a range of effective communication skills, social awareness, smartness, and basic marketing skills. We are also planning to enroll him for short term diploma course in Marketing Management which is supportive to his commerce field, which is a certificate course of three months provided by Shrinivas Institute in pune. He can do this course easily in the upcoming summer vacations.
