The Béréba library continues to run its weekly library activities and recently organized a Word Workshop for CE1 students (3rd graders) who are struggling in school due to low reading levels. The librarians went through word exercises and had one-on-one review sessions with the students.
In May, Béréba’s primary-school students took part in a research study where solar-powered lamps were distributed (at random) to 4th and 5th graders. A research team will see how having the lamps at home impacts the students’ reading and study habits. The research encourages students to visit the library (free membership offered), so the library has been very popular and has seen an increase in membership.
Students are anxiously waiting for the library to begin its annual summer reading camp, which is scheduled to run from July 28th – August 3rd.
