Thanks to donors like you, this past July, Career Girls hosted the second of six virtual camps planned for 2022. From July 12 - 15, Career Girls welcomed girls from the United States, Canada, and Morocco for a 4-day intensive camp focused on Financing for Entrepreneurship. Girls explored the building blocks of financing entrepreneurship, understanding how lenders decide whether or not to invest in a company, pitching for investment as a startup company, and finance for solopreneurs. Campers had the opportunity to engage directly with women leaders in finance, venture capital, and entrepreneurship. Each girl learned how to create a business model and a pitch deck and explored what investors are looking for in a viable company.
One of the most exciting parts of camp is to see the impact of our programming in action. One of our goals is to close The Imagination Gap – the difference between career choices that girls imagine for themselves and the range of careers actually available for them to pursue based on their interests. During the Financing for Entrepreneurship Virtual Camp, one camper reported that she was looking forward to “making hobbies into things we can do in the future.” Access to accomplished women role models gives the girls a roadmap to success. One camper said, “my most inspirational moment is when the special guests share their story and how they got to where they are today.”
With your help, we’re looking forward to conducting three additional virtual camps in 2022 and continuing to provide them free of charge for every girl who wants to attend. In August, we welcomed campers to our AI, Robotics, and Machine Learning camp and are looking forward to our next virtual camp, Preparing for College, from September 22 - 24.
