Across 16 African countries, the HALI Access Network unlocks pathways to world-class education for High-Achieving, Low-Income students. Through the Bridge Fund we remove last-mile barriers covering visas, immunizations, flights, and small scholarship gaps that prevent talented youth from enrolling to university. Each dollar invested unlocks $80 in scholarships, enabling Africa's changemakers to pursue world-class education. Your gift ensures talent, not income, determines opportunity.
Every year, over 2,000 promising African students prepare for international university admission through HALI Access. More than 1,000 earn full or partial scholarships, yet about 200 lose the opportunity to enroll because of "last-mile" costs like visa fees, immunizations, and travel expenses or small annual scholarship gaps of $1,000-$5,000. Without support, life-changing scholarships worth millions of dollars go unused, perpetuating inequality and leaving some of Africa's brightest behind.
Bridge Fund provides timely support to close these gaps, ensuring no deserving student turns down a full scholarship averaging $80,000 annually because of transition costs of up to $1,500. The fund is expanding to offer strategic micro-grants to cover non-academic costs at universities with partial scholarships. This initiative fuels equity in international higher education, supporting students to enroll at top universities like MIT, Cornell, and Tufts to study engineering, economics, and more.
In just two years, the Bridge Fund has supported 28 students, unlocking $2M+ in scholarships annually. Alumni are on track to become innovators and leaders shaping Africa's future in tech, science, policy, and the arts. HALI member organizations report higher enrollment rates and greater ability to focus on equipping students with skills and tools for success in university. Your gift ignites a ripple of change-uplifting families, communities, and amplifying positive African narratives globally.
