By Nanama B. Acheampong | Coordinator of the Golden Baobab Prizes
Dear Friends,
In this first quarter of 2014 we have been up to so much and are absolutely delighted to bring you updates on the illustration prizes we launched in November last year.
We are pleased to inform you that we have officially begun the call for submissions to the 2014 Golden Baobab Prizes for Illustrations! This year we are awarding $5,000 to the winner of the Golden Baobab Prize for Illustrators and $2,500 to the winner of the Golden Baobab Prize for Rising Illustrators as well as in kind packages, including a travelling exhibition of winning illustrations.
Since we launched these prizes we have received a tremendous amount of interest, both locally and internationally. We have also already begun to receive some very promising entries. We are positive we will receive many more submissions before the deadline, 29th June, 2014.
Once again, we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for making these prizes possible. We hope you are proud of what we have been able to achieve with your generous donations so far. We are excited about the impact that these prizes will make on the development of children's books in Africa and in the overall achievement of Golden Baobab's vision of a world filled with wonder and possibility, one African children's story at a time.
We appreciate your support and we encourage you to tell friends and family members about Golden Baobab and the work we do.
We hope 2014 has been an amazing year for you so far and we hope it continues to be. Please find the official poster for the 2014 Golden Baobab Prizes for Illustrations poster below.
