Dear Friend,
Happy 2013! Thank you for your continued support; we hope that this year began well for you.
Golden Baobab continues to invest in African illustrators in order to ensure the creation of children’s literary content. Last year we increased job opportunities for 67% of the illustrators we currently work with. In March, Golden Baobab’s executive director will be representing the organization at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Italy, where illustrations created during last year’s workshops will be exhibited.
The Bologna Children’s Book Fair gives us an opportunity to seek potential work projects for our illustrators. At the event we will also be introducing the pan African Illustrators Prize (to be launched later this year) to key industry professionals in order to develop relevant networks for its success. Currently we are in the process of hiring a prize coordinator who will manage all aspects of the prize. This year’s efforts to support African illustrators of children’s stories include finalizing the design of the prize and launching the prize in Anglophone African countries.
In order to ensure that wonderful illustrations are created for African children’s stories, we encourage you to continue supporting this project. Your contribution is indispensable in supporting illustrators who are critical players in the African children’s industry.
Thank you for supporting the work of Golden Baobab. We wish you the best in your endeavors!
