We see potential in every participant!

More Than a Day Program: A Place Where Growth Happens Every Day

When people think about adults with severe and multiple disabilities, they often focus on the challenges they face. At SPARC, we focus on their potential.

Every participant who comes through our doors has goals—not just activities to fill a day, but meaningful objectives that help them grow socially, emotionally, cognitively, and personally. These goals are as unique as the individuals themselves, and they serve as a roadmap toward greater confidence, independence, connection, and quality of life.

For some participants, success means learning to communicate their needs more effectively. For others, it means building friendships, participating in group activities, managing emotions, practicing self-advocacy, developing independent living skills, improving mobility, or gaining the confidence to take on leadership roles. Some are working toward using assistive technology to communicate, while others are learning to cook a simple meal, navigate community settings, or engage in conversations with peers.

These may seem like small accomplishments to some, but for our participants—and their families—they are life-changing milestones.

Growth That Goes Beyond the Classroom

A participant who once sat quietly on the sidelines begins joining group activities and sharing experiences with peers.

A person who struggled to express frustration learns healthier ways to communicate emotions and advocate for their needs.

An individual who depended entirely on others begins practicing everyday life skills such as cooking, shopping, handling money, or making personal choices.

Another participant discovers the confidence to lead an activity, helping others while building self-esteem and purpose.

These moments happen because SPARC intentionally creates opportunities for growth. Our staff don't simply supervise activities; they build individualized supports, encourage participation, celebrate progress, and help participants practice skills repeatedly in real-life situations.

Why Goals Matter

For many adults with severe and multiple disabilities, opportunities for continued learning and personal development become increasingly limited after leaving school. Families often face a future with few options that promote meaningful engagement, friendships, and ongoing growth.

SPARC changes that reality.

Through individualized goal-setting and purposeful programming, participants continue developing throughout adulthood. They are challenged, supported, and empowered to achieve things many people once thought impossible.

The goals we track reveal what donors make possible:

  • Stronger communication and self-advocacy
  • Increased social engagement and friendships
  • Improved emotional regulation and coping skills
  • Greater independence in daily living
  • Enhanced community participation
  • Leadership opportunities and personal confidence
  • Better physical wellness and mobility
  • Meaningful inclusion and belonging

The Impact of Your Support

Behind every goal is a person who deserves the opportunity to learn, connect, and thrive.

When donors support SPARC, they are not simply funding activities. They are investing in human potential. They are helping adults with severe and multiple disabilities build friendships, develop life skills, gain confidence, and experience the dignity that comes from growth and achievement.

Every time a participant speaks up for themselves, joins a group activity, learns a new skill, manages a difficult emotion, or takes a step toward greater independence, that success is made possible by a community that believes they are capable of more.

At SPARC, we see those successes every day.

And with the support of caring donors, we can continue helping every participant discover what is possible next.
