Preface:
Another remarkable quarter completed. Organization with its vision to make special children the self-reliant members of the society, has broadened its spectrum of services by introducing evening classes to serve as many special children as possible. Organization also held awareness seminars regarding Inclusive Education to introduce the public with the idea of Inclusive Education where all children; normal and special, can learn together under one roof because “those who learn together, learn to live together”.
Gosha E Aafiyat (Sheltered Workshop & Sheltered Home):
As name of this project depicts, it will be a secured place of comfort, ease and coziness for adults with special needs. Gosha-e-Afiyat will provide a sheltered environment for semi-skilled and skilled adults with special needs to either work and earn under supervision of normal adults or after acquiring required skills move to open job market. Second aspect of this project addresses problems faced by adults with special needs, once they lose their family support. Gosha-e-Afiyat will provide them with a secure and homely place to live.
A consultative meeting was held at Rising Sun to discuss physical infrastructure, program delivery & other details regarding Gosha e Afiyat (Sheltered home & Sheltered Workshop). Meeting was chaired by respected Dr. Izhar Hashmi (Director Punjab Welfare Trust for Disabled) & Mrs. Perveen Tawwab (Founder & President Rising Sun).
Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for Rising Sun Institute for Visually Impaired Children DHA
Foundation stone of Rising Sun Institute for special children, Perveen & Abdul Tawwab block for visual impairment laid yesterday by Lt. Gen. Ammir Riaz, Commander 4 corps. The school will provide educational and training services to the children with visual impairment.
Provincial conference on Inclusive Education
A provincial conference was held at the end of the Training of the Trainers (TOT) project to identify challenges in implementation of inclusive education, share best practices and to provide a road map for strengthening inclusive practices in private and public schools of Punjab. Two panel discussions were scheduled during the conference. Discussions basically focused current best practices & challenges in implementation of inclusive education in Pakistan. Way forward was also discussed.
