Dear Supporter,
In this update, I would like to share about a program in our schools that is transforming opportunities for our students: the Digital Learning Program (DLP).
In today’s world, the ability to use technology is no longer optional, it is essential. Yet in many of the communities we serve, access to computers and the internet is virtually non-existent. A 2019 national survey reported that only 7% of children aged 10 or older in rural Pakistan had ever used a computer. Without intervention, our students would remain excluded from the opportunities of the modern economy.
In response, TCF launched the Digital Learning Program. The idea was simple but powerful: equip our students with the digital literacy skills they need to thrive in higher education, vocational training, and the workplace.
Each DLP school receives an upgraded computer lab, redesigned digital literacy textbooks, and reliable alternative power sources so that learning is not disrupted by frequent electricity outages. Students learn coding, problem-solving using technology, and how to navigate digital tools to address real-world problems. For many of them, this is their very first interaction with a computer.
The impact has been profound. Students who once memorized lessons from outdated textbooks now confidently use tablets, conduct research online, and create their own digital projects. We’ve seen a growing number of graduates pursue careers in technology, business, and science, opportunities that would have been unimaginable just a few years ago.
By connecting our students to the digital world, we are bridging the gap between their present and a future filled with opportunity.
Thank you for making this possible. Your support allows us to continue breaking barriers and preparing the next generation of Pakistanis to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
All my best,
Eric
