We are grateful to you for supporting The Citizens Foundation (TCF) and our work providing education to underprivileged children in Pakistan. You are paving the way to a brighter future for so many children.
I am excited to share some news with you.
Education is important. Quality education is more important. When TCF began in 1995, our founders committed not to build “poor schools for poor children” but rather to build schools on par with the best in the world. We have never wavered from that commitment. Recent test results back up this statement.
ASER, originally developed by Pratham in India, has been called “the only current source of national annual information on children’s ability to read and do basic arithmetic in Pakistan” by the PAL Network. The most recent results from December 2023: TCF third graders are 3.7 times more effective at reading stories than government school students. What makes this statistic more impressive: TCF schools operate at one-third the cost per student of government schools.
This means our schools are 11x more effective at teaching foundational literacy.
It is our belief that a child’s socioeconomic status should never dictate their opportunities. We have been meticulous in how we design our schools and curriculum as well as how we train our teachers and principals to give our students the best opportunities.
Thank you for giving us the support to continue delivering quality education.
All my best,
Eric
