Project Report | Mar 8, 2016
March update

By Sanda Ballah | Project assistant

Maison Shalom, still needs our help.

Shalom School finds herself in a very critical situation today.
The political and security situation in Burundi has indeed very much worsened in the last few weeks, and now the directo ofhe school in on the current government's black-list, for her exceptional involvement in the defense of her Burundian peers, her "children" as she calls them.

She still has to live hidden, while continuing to follow the activities of Maison Shalom as well as the political events. The only people, today, who dare visit the sick, the prisoners, the wounded, the children, all victims of this tense situation and of the violence that prevails in the country, are the collaborators of Maison Shalom.

Their mission is to gather and redistribute goods of first necessity (mainly food) to families, but most importantly to give psychological support to parents whose children have been victims of this violence.

Friends of Humanity  Maison Shalom, but we are also in great need of your support and your solidarity, in order for her not to be left alone. The situation is most serious, for her as well as for her fellow Burundians.

The direcor called musonly a few days ago from her hiding place, ended the conversation by saying: "All is grace for he or she who believes. Myself, I pray for the grace to soon return to my country."
