Support Pastoralist Girl Mentorship in Rural Kenya

Project Update: Renewing Momentum for Pastoralist Girls

Caritas Marsabit continues to advance the Pastoralist Girls Mentorship Program (PGMP), providing support to girls from pastoralist communities through mentorship, life skills development, and education-focused initiatives.

On October 2, 2025, we held a renewed fundraising and awareness event in Nairobi to strengthen partnerships and mobilize support through GlobalGiving. The event brought together over 100 supporters, including development partners, government representatives, faith leaders, women leaders, girls from pastoralist communities, and private sector actors.

Fundraising Progress

Thanks to generous donor support, the project raised:

• USD 37,567.75 out of USD 38,700
• 97% of the target achieved

Funds were mobilized through online donations, cheque contributions, and partner pledges.

What This Support Will Enable

The funds raised will support:

• Mentorship sessions for pastoralist girls
• Life skills and leadership development
• Learning and mentorship materials
• Community engagement to promote girls’ education

Beyond fundraising, Caritas Marsabit actively participated in key advocacy events:

• Day of the Girl Child: Partnering with the Marsabit County Children’s Office to amplify messages on girls’ rights, education, and protection.

• Lake Turkana Cultural Festival: Working with the County Gender Department and stakeholders to raise awareness against digital-based violence targeting women and girls.

These initiatives reinforce the program’s goal of creating safe, supportive environments for girls to learn, grow, and lead.
