Sreylin was born in a big family, which consist of eight members. She was forced to stop studying in grade six, because she needed to work to support her family. She worked as a construction worker for many years. Then she changed to work in hospitality service.
Sreylin wanted to learn sewing skill since she was very young, but she didn’t have a chance to learn. One day, our staff went to Lean’s house to recruit the students. She was really interested, but she had an issue as she was working full time in hospitality service. She requested her manager to work part time, so they allowed her to work in morning shift. She was very happy, because she could join our class in the afternoon.
She always came to the class regularly and tried hard in studying. She has just graduated from our sewing program in June 2019, with a full range of sewing skill and gained a lot of knowledge from our life skill lessons and mentoring sessions. Her dream to work as a seamstress has become true, as now she has secured the job at an ethical factory and her first income is USD$110 per month, which is almost three times what she was earning prior to studying with us.
“I am very excited when I graduated from my sewing course at HHA. I have changed a lot as before I didn’t have any skills, but now I have a skill and a good job.”
Thank you for joining us to empower women to create a sustainable future.
