First Batch Undergraduate Orphans Beneficiaries enjoy MOCAFON scholarship on Quality Education

FIRST BATCH OF BENEFICIARIES UNDERGRADUATE ORPHANS

Dear Donour,

THE POWERFUL PERCENT: According to UNESCO data, there are approximately 254 million students enrolled in universities worldwide. It is this powerful percent that will lead governments, media, business, religion, technology advancement and the worldwide movement in the 21st century.

According to Unicef, an estimated 153 million children are orphans in the world and the Federal ministry of women’s Affairs in Nigeria in 2014, has noted that orphans and vulnerable children in Nigeria can be estimated to be about 17.5 million. Unfortunately, only 7.3 million of these children are placed in orphanages, because Nigeria has only about 2000 orphanages available in all the 36 states. These shows there's a dearth of accommodation and subsequent care for these neglected children. Regrettably, there is a severe lack of recent data to understand what the state of situation is now but one can assume that the numbers will have increased exponentially. MOCAFON after submitting the due diligence application and vetting, it was approved on GlobalGiving in August 2024, which gave us a global platform to make this clarion campaign of supporting orphans.

Out of the proposed 50 undergraduate orphans in our campaign to be supported, ten have been carefully selected for the education scholarship support for four years. These first batch met the eligibility requirements qualification of 3.50 Cumulative Grade Point of Average (CGPA). This enabled us to offer them the education scholarship with immediate effect by offering them a scholarship letter of approval and effecting their tuition fees payment. They were all in the following level at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State Nigeria.

We hope this GlobalGiving Campaign will really help us to raise the total budget of $50,000 estimated for the project from 2024/2025 to 2029/2030.

Thanks to your generous support, we were able to provide financial scholarship to 10 undergraduates orphans which helped paying their tution fees, accomodation but some of their special needs could not be supported due to insufficient funds, meanwhile this support has given them a renew hope and eased their daily struggles for funds and food.

The continuation of your donations is the hope that will cater for the remaining 40 undergraduates orphans and selected 10 present beneficiaries for 4years, as they face great challenges just to live with dignity.

10 YEARS FROM INCEPTION TO DATE

10 years from inception, 22 beneficiaries’ undergraduates enjoy MOCAFON scholarship on Quality Education:

10 Years Past…

We are incredibly proud of our beneficiaries. Over the past 10 years, Mordecai Care Foundation of Nigeria (MOCAFON) has provided them with opportunities, and they have grown into amazing personalities. As orphans who are demoralized basically because they have no hope in achieving anything in life, we bring hope to their demoralizing dreams and ambitions in their tertiary institutions and rescuing them from financial mishaps that could hamper their education pursuit in life as we offered them scholarship all through their years of respective courses in various tertiary institutions. Concurrently, while studying we encouraged them to acquire a skill of their choices, within their session break time and many of them today are doing great. Above picture is the first group of beneficiaries and they are all graduated from university. But we need your help to continue this mission. We implore you to go through our reports.

John joined our Foundation at the age of 16, always cheerful and full of life. He is grateful for having a family that supported him through hard times, in his university years as an orphan. Today, he works in the Bank industry, as assistant human resource personnel.

Abigeal was a beneficiary since inception of her admission into her institution and she has sign-out now, she is presently working as a teacher. While Mary has concluded her National Youth Service Corps year and presently amarried woman.

Our initiative has been progressive till date, we have achieved remarkable milestones. Ruth has become an accountant. She often visits after work, stays for dinner, and helps her younger sisters with little financial support, recently completed her fashion designer apprenticeship. She is currently living an independent and responsible life; we are hopeful she will find her perfect man fit for her soon. The ADENIRAN’s were 3 girls who were already of age as the time we meet them, but today they are graduates and all married.

It’s Blessings and Esther graduatedfrom OAU, Ile-Ife. While Idowu finished from Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. Today, we are so happy and proud of our girls who have finished their education:

Their journey through MOCAFON has been intense, to say the least! They are intelligent, with strong personality now. They have found support in each other, with very strong personal bonds, sometimes hermetic and not easy to understand from the outside. However, their maturing process and a strong awareness of their environment has fortified their entities and has developed into a strong sense of belonging to the qualities of character impacted to them.

Today, they can recognize that the demands of strong discipline, consistency and great sensibility has value. In our foundation, we have made them stronger to face the challenges they had along the way. Challenges faced by them and the whole MOCAFON family, as they had to overcome them in order to get to their and our final goal in life.

We are convinced that it has been a win-win situation for all involved, and that although future challenges they will face will loom larger, they will overcome them and become exemplary and successful women, we wish them success and keep moving forward!

Much to Celebrate: Planning is a long-term effort, and always a challenge. But not to plan is leaving us to die without hope! Isaac ADEYEMO always had hope that our long-term goal would be met in spite of time and ups and downs along the way, thereason why we are setting up for another 50 undergraduates orphan in different Universities in Nigeria now, is to reduce the orphan been opted out of their courses because of money factor, we are soliciting for more from you, to continue to support and donate to this campaign to give quality education to orphan in Nigeria
