With your contribution we continue to support more parents with children who have cancer.
This month we’d like to talk to you about our accompaniment program for parents and guardians with children who have cancer. As a foundation we visit every week pediatric oncology services of two hospitals in Bogotá. From these visits we get to know the kids and their parents; we speak with them; we offer them our services in psychosocial support and every other emotional support needed, mainly on the first stage, when they learn about the cancer diagnostic.
To the date we have given active accompaniment to over 500 (five hundred) families with children who have cancer, and this year, we have given it to over 80 families through our visits to different hospitals.
Our intervention includes activities in art-therapy for children on which parents can also participate. We also offer education regarding child cancer and the importance of adhering to treatment, emotional management, guilt sentiments that may exist, and of course, motivation and hope to live this painful experience with a purpose in mind, optimism, and gratitude.
Parents and guardians with children who have cancer feel supported and accompanied by Funcolombiana.
