Support 430 children with cancer in Colombia!

Tu aporte realmente está cambiado la vida de muchos niños con cáncer en Colombia, gracias a tu contribución  hemos recaudado hasta Julio: $5.526.000 (cinco millones quinientos veintiseis mil pesos COP) y restando lo correspondiente a un porcentaje mínimo de inversión en Global Giving, hemos logrado inyectar  $4.900.000 (cuatro millones novecientos mil pesos COP) al Programa de apoyo a niños con cáncer y sus padres.

Como ves, tu aporte se multiplicó por mucho más y por esto queremos contarte como la Fundación ha administrado tu inversión social y ha ayudado a niños como Matías, aquí está su historia…

Matías tiene 3 años, desde los 2 años fue diagnosticado con Leucemia aguda, un acontecimiento inesperado y lleno de retos para esta familia. Durante su tratamiento ha tenido dificultades para acceder a su servicio de salud y a los medicamentos que necesita; las dificultades económicas han sido grandes, ya que los gastos son cada vez mayores. Sin embargo, la valentía siempre ha estado presente en este pequeño y su familia, aun en los momentos más difíciles Matías siempre quiso jugar y reír.

 “Le doy gracias a la Fundación Colombiana de leucemia y linfoma que nos acogió, nos brindó su ayuda para conocer mucho más acerca de la enfermedad, nos ayudo con las dificultades que teníamos con el servicio de salud del niño, nos brindó un auxilio de transporte para los traslados a la clínica y nos permite expresar nuestros sentimientos en los grupos de apoyo; la Fundación es uno de los ángeles que Dios puso en mi camino”, madre de Matías.

Así como Matías, muchos otros niños están siendo beneficiados a través de tu aporte. Queremos contarte que en lo que va del año 2014, hemos logrado llegar a 296 niños con cáncer, brindando apoyo emocional para los padres, información y educación acerca de la enfermedad de sus hijos y de sus derechos en materia de salud. También se ha realizado seguimiento mensual para identificar las barreras de acceso a una atención en salud y hemos intervenido desde la Fundación para que las aseguradoras cumplan con los tiempos establecidos por ley para brindar una atención oportuna a los pacientes.

Por otra parte,  ya 53 niños han participado en los talleres de arte terapia, lo que ha permitido hacer más agradable su estadía en la sala de quimioterapia y en el Hospital, además de hacer un mejor aprovechamiento del tiempo, estrechar lazos con su madre/cuidador y compartir con otros niños la alegría de hacer arte mediante diversas técnicas.

Por último, se han entregado hasta el momento 160 auxilios de transporte para 51 familias,  y se han realizado 3 grupos de apoyo acerca de temas importantes como los cuidados para el cuidador, nutrición para los niños en tratamiento y cuidados antes, durante y después de la quimioterapia, beneficiando a 60 familias. El próximo 29 de agosto tendremos nuestro siguiente grupo de apoyo acerca de la importancia de la adherencia al tratamiento.

If you see, your contribution was multiplied by many more and we want to tell you how the Foundation has run your social investment  helping  children like Matthias, here is his story ...

Matthias has 3 years from 2 years was diagnosed with acute leukemia, an unexpected event and full of challenges for this family. During your treatment you have had difficulty accessing their health care and medication needs; economic difficulties have been great, because costs are increasing. But bravery has always been present in this small and family, even in the most difficult moments Matías always wanted to play and laugh.

"I thank the Colombian Foundation for leukemia and lymphoma who welcomed us, gave us their help to know more about the disease, we were helped with the difficulties we had with the health service of the child, we provided a transportation aid for shipments to the clinic and allows us to express our feelings in support groups; Foundation is one of the angels that God put in my path ": mother of Matthias.

As Matthias, many children are being benefited through your contribution. We want to tell you that so far in 2014, we managed to reach 296 children with cancer by providing emotional support for parents, information and education about the illness of their children and their rights in health. It has also been conducted monthly monitoring to identify barriers to access to health care and we have been involved from the Foundation for insurers to comply with the timeframe established by law to provide timely patient care.

Moreover, since 53 children participated in art therapy workshops, allowing a more pleasant stay in the chemotherapy room and in the hospital, in addition to making better use of time bonding with your mother / caregiver and share with others the joy of making art using various techniques.

Finally, they have given so far 160 aid transport for 51 families, and have made 3 support groups on important issues such as care for the caregiver, nutrition for children in treatment and care before, during and after chemotherapy, benefiting 60 families.
