Since we launched this project, we have been rather quiet. We apologize for not reporting sooner.
In all honesty, we could fill this report with traumas and emergencies without effort. We have been faced with some extremely hard challenges, and a rescue mission to save 13 equines that were confiscated and left to die at a car pound. With the support of SPCAI, we have been able to get them to safety after months of negociation. Two sadly did not make it. But the others are now finally free and safe with us. We now have a piece of land available where we are building our new "ranch", where our equines can play and finally be free.
We hope that with the support of our GlobalGiving community, we can expand the ranch and maintain it in a way that gives our equines the life they deserve. Your support contributes to feeding our equines, ensuring medical care, and maintaining a safe a environment. THANK YOU.
Recently, we had some unexpected news. Normally we wouldn’t be happy about such a thing.
For the dogs and cats we are even preparing the animals so they never will, or can’t again.
We didn’t know this was coming.
It was a blessing we didn’t know we needed.
Two of our resident mares, Wazis and Nejma, gave birth to perfectly gorgeous foals at the end of June.
Wazis fell in a well last year and with the help of about 15 people, a metal frame from a car wash, a pulley and some sedatives we were able to retrieve her almost unscathed.
We were told Nejma was tied, two horses in a box. They fought. She jumped. Her eye, thigh and under thigh were torn open. It’s been almost a year of treatment to heal her leg.
Both Mummies are doing well. They’re extra hungry to produce the milk they need to feed their babies.
Nejma hasnt had enough milk so we have been supplementing around the clock.
We are so happy to introduce you to Soso and Storm Boy. We are so happy that they will grown up not knowing what abuse or abandonment feels like.
