Using the knowledge and experience gained from our work in North Darfur, Potential Energy spent the last
few months exploring expansion opportunities in new Darfuri states. Since Potential Energy’s last update to
GlobalGiving, we have completed sales trials of our cookstoves in West Darfur and South Darfur. In these new
areas, the team conducted baseline surveys in order to better understand household demographics, local cooking
practices and fuel use in these areas. Working with community-based organizations, Potential Energy trained
these new partners to demonstrate and promote the Berkeley-Darfur Stove in their communities, which informed
us about the potential demand for our high-efficiency cookstoves in new parts of Darfur. In the coming months, we
will prepare for a full project launch in one of these areas.
