Dear friends,
Thanks to your support, more than 250 children at Galeya Rogdha School are learning in a healthier, more focused environment. Since the launch of the school meals program, teachers have observed significant improvements in student concentration, energy, and academic performance, especially in the afternoon.
Meals have included local and nutritious staples such as kidney beans, wheat, peas, rice, and bananas. In addition, health screenings were conducted and resulted in the identification and treatment of:
36 cases of intestinal parasites
13 cases of malaria
5 minor illnesses such as skin infections and respiratory conditions
Children diagnosed with skin conditions were treated through at the Galeya Rogdha clinic next door, and hygiene education combined with monthly soap distribution has helped reduce preventable illnesses.
As one fourth grade student shared,
“In the past I used to be absent from class due to inadequate food I got at home. Now, the school initiative helped us to get enough food and assisted us to be focused in our education.”
The school closed for the summer in June and will reopen in September. We are now working to secure funding to continue the program throughout the upcoming school year, so students can count on consistent meals, health checks, and learning support. We also hope to launch student gender clubs this year, giving girls and boys the space to build leadership skills and promote equality. With your continued support, we hope to see enrollment continue to rise in September, as families recognize the value of education, nutrition, and health care.
Thank you for helping us keep this important program going.
With gratitude,
The Engera Team
