Project Completed

By Abilis Foundation | Project Leader

Teens & Tots Neuro Development Centre supports parents of children with disabilities. The organisation implemented a livelihoods project which enabled parents to better support the daily financial needs of their children with disabilities. Livelihood activities included baking, soap making, making handicrafts and tailoring. As a result of the project income levels for participants have increased. Through GlobalGiving $30 has been donated to this project.

Here are reports from two project references:

"We followed up and monitored the activities undertaken by Teens & ToTs . These were carried out in accordance to the plan and the agreement. The project has empowered parents with skills to earn a living, boost their income and provide good care for their children. The project has also boosted the self esteem of the parents as they had an opportunity to meet with other parents and share their experiences. The project was implemented by parents of special needs children right from the beginning. The project has been successful and is very beneficial to the children, parents and the community."

Senior Community Development Officer, Kira municipal council

"I am a person with a physical disability and I took keen interest in following up the implementation of this project. I have known Teens & ToTs for some years and it is an organisation that really strives to improve the condition of special needs children. I visited the group on a number of occasions during the implementation period. During the visits , updates, plans and reports were shared. I have had an opportunity to interact with the parents before and during the project. From this I can see the benefits in that they have improved their income levels, social networks, self-esteem and knowledge of special needs children. The parents have been fully engaged in the programme from the beginning, they have also acquired skills in project, financial and business management through the in house training."
