Support 12 disabled children through life skills

This is a livelihood project targeting 12 parents (6 females and 6 males) of children with special needs through craft/jewellery, baking, tailoring and soap/detergent making. The activities that have been implemented are;

• Community sensitisation in liaison with community leaders/local authorities and the community in four areas. This was intended to raise awareness about neurological disorders and the whole project in general.

• Identification and selection of 11 project participants, orientation and introduction to the centre

• In - house training for six parents in making bread, buns, cakes and doughnuts at the centre between October and November 2018. The parents are currently producing the bakery products, which are sold to the local community and shops. Business management skills are also being provided.

• In – house training for five parents in making liquid soap between October and November at the centre. The parents are currently producing liquid soap, which is sold, to the community and shops. Business management skills are also being provided.

• Continuous monitoring to ensure high quality of the produced goods.

The remaining activities to be implemented with the 2nd instalment are;

• Craft and jewellery for 3 persons.

• Tailoring for 3 persons.

• Start-up packages for tailoring, craft andd jewellery.

• Purchase of Industrial knitting machine, Industrial sewing machine, embroidery machine, industrial overlock machine and tailoring accessories.
