A healthy baby, all pains relieved

By Ajisekola Amos | Project leader

Awonike and baby
Awonike and baby

Experts described pregnancy as a stage of physiological anomalies. To majority, pregnancy carrying period is with series of agony and pains from conception to delivery. These agonies and pains are soon forgotten with arrival of a live healthy baby, enhanced by good prenatal and postnatal care. Poverty may truncate the dream of having a live healthy baby in the absence of a project intervention like "support 1000 healthy births" by Oak Rural Health Organization.

Awonike is a poor petty trader and mother of 2 whose husband is a traditional healer, both living within the locality where the project is being implemented. Her previous pregnancy  which was complicated by anaemia was delivered at an undisclosed place. She came for antenatal booking in January 2020. She got the attention of our expert healthcare professionals and all her health needs were met. She came regularly for her antenatal clinics where she was well examined and subsequently given multivitamins, malaria prevention chemotherapy when due, and other care. She put to bed, a bouncing and healthy baby boy in March 2020 with no complications. Her post natal clinic went well and the baby is equally in good health.

This intervention profers a lasting helping hand to the poor and draws them to accessing healthcare from competent hands. Upto 10 children have been born of poor mothers like Awonike between January and April 2020. We love to expand our coverage beyond our present location to enable us achieve our "1000 healthy births" target. Only your generous donations can help us with this. You can be a one time donor or recurrent donor, anyways moves us forward!
