Provide Free Sewing Machines in Pakistan

Empowering Women Through Sustainable Livelihoods in Multan

In Multan, Pakistan, Alkhidmat distributed 35 sewing machines to widows and vulnerable women as part of its ongoing efforts to support families facing economic hardship and create sustainable livelihood opportunities.

For many women, particularly widows and those from financially vulnerable households, finding a stable source of income can be extremely challenging. The distribution of sewing machines provides beneficiaries with a practical tool that can be used to generate income from home through tailoring, stitching, embroidery, and other sewing-related services.

From Support to Self-Reliance

This initiative goes beyond providing material assistance. Each sewing machine represents an opportunity for a woman to develop a home-based livelihood, serve customers within her community, and contribute to her family's household expenses.

With access to the necessary equipment, beneficiaries can gradually build their skills, expand their customer base, and develop a more reliable source of income. This approach helps promote dignity, self-reliance, and economic empowerment rather than creating long-term dependence on assistance.

Impact

35 widows and vulnerable women received sewing machines through this initiative.

The expected benefits include:

• Increased opportunities for home-based income generation

• Greater financial independence for women

• Improved ability to contribute toward household expenses

• Development of small-scale tailoring and sewing businesses

• Increased confidence and self-reliance among beneficiaries

• Improved economic resilience of vulnerable families

The impact can extend beyond the immediate beneficiaries as women use their new equipment to serve members of their communities and potentially create additional opportunities for others through their growing businesses.

A Step Toward a Better Future

For a woman struggling to support her family, a sewing machine can become much more than a piece of equipment—it can become a source of income, confidence, and hope. By providing livelihood assets, Alkhidmat seeks to help vulnerable women move toward greater economic stability and build a more secure future for their families.
