We are pleased to share that we have responded to thousands of people affected by Typhoon Carina!

On July 21, 2024, Super Typhoon Carina hit the Philippines and wreaked havoc in 11 Regions of the country including Metro Manila and the Province of Rizal.

Within 72 hours, and with the help of donors like you, we provided affected children and families with immediate life-saving interventions in Metro Manila and Rizal.  These interventions included provision of water and family hygiene kits containing  hygiene essentials for bathing (bath soap and towels,) laundry soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, sanitary pads and nail cutters. This is complemented by health talks and informative materials to ensure that their conditions won't be exacerbated by illness while in evacuation centers. In Caloocan, Malabon, and Navotas, Save the Children distributed essential hygiene kits and jerry cans to 933 families in the cities of Caloocan, Malabon, and Navotas.reaching 4,665 individuals.

Save the Children also ensured the learning continuity of children by providing back-to-school kits and teacher's learning kit. A total of 780 back-to-school kits and five teacher kits in Mamuyao Elementary School and Daraitan Elementary School in Tanay, Rizal, received learning support from Save the Children in the aftermath of Super Typhoon Carina. Children were provided  with school bags with essential school supplies, lunchboxes, raincoats, and rain boots to help students resume their education and support them through their recovery.  This also unburdens their parents in having to buy these supplies for their children so they can focus on other basic needs..

Save the Children also provided multi-purpose cash assistance for residents of remote communities in Rizal, particularly in Barangays Mamuyao, Lai-ban, and Tinucan. A total of 299 households received assistance of Ph 5,000 to, help them restore their livelihoods after the devastation of Super Typhoon #CarinaPH (#Gaemi). This also supported the families in getting essential resources like food, clothing, and school supplies for their children.

One of our beneficiaries is, 44-year-old Niwel who faced challenges that greatly affected his farming livelihood in Brgy. Tinucan, Tanay, Rizal..The strong winds and heavy rains damaged his crops and disrupted his ability to provide for his family. .He is one of the participants in Save the Children's multi-purpose cash assistance program, which has been helpful for Niwel in restoring his means of living.

We are very proud of these accomplishments which are only made possible by the support of donors like you.

Please continue to donate to Save the Chidlren so what we can be able to help more families in need everyday and in times of crises.
