Summary

Help teenagers affected by war in Ukraine regain confidence in learning and build friendships. Kids of Ukraine will run a free year-long SviTY programme in Lviv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy and Zhytomyr. Three 12-week cycles in each centre will offer up to 360 programme places for adolescents aged 11-17. English, critical thinking and financial literacy lessons are combined with psychological support. Your donation helps cover teachers, psychologists, learning materials and the four centres.

Challenge

Growing up amid war can leave teenagers carrying grief, anxiety and uncertainty into everyday life. Displacement and separation from loved ones can disrupt friendships and their sense of belonging. For adolescents aged 11-17, including displaced teenagers and children of military personnel, these experiences can make it harder to trust others or ask for help. They need psychological support alongside opportunities to rest, spend time with peers and feel part of a caring community.

Solution

Each eight-day SviTY camp brings around 25 teenagers together with psychologists and trained staff. Daily group sessions and individual support when needed help participants recognise emotions and practise ways to manage stress. Creative workshops, team games, guided hikes and rafting create opportunities to make friends and build confidence. With meals, accommodation and medical support provided, participants can focus on the programme and take part at their own pace.

Long-Term Impact

The camps aim to help up to 50 teenagers return home with new friendships and practical ways to manage difficult emotions. These skills can help them cope with everyday challenges at home and at school, and feel more able to ask for help. Positive shared experiences and supportive relationships can reduce isolation beyond the camp itself. Learning to listen and support one another can strengthen relationships with peers and help young people feel more confident about their future.
