Support young Kosovars from underprivileged backgrounds to realize their full potential with a SCHOLARSHIP to a summer camp. The benefits of the summer camp experience stretch well beyond the camp week by providing youth with practical, leadership and community service skills that they use throughout their lives. We are asking for your support to provide 50 Kosovar youth with scholarships to attend TOKA's summer camps in 2019.
Almost 20 years after the war ended, Kosovo is still undergoing multiple social challenges. The public education system has suffered a tremendous decrease in quality, and opportunities for youth to reach their full potential are few and far between. When such opportunities exist, they are usually offered from private institutions. Considering that Kosovo continues to be the poorest country in Europe, most of the youth cannot afford them.
We at TOKA are trying to address this gap by creating non-formal education opportunities for youth to explore themselves, develop skills, and feel empowered so that they become the best versions of themselves. Summer Camps we have seen are one of the most impactful ways to achieve this. Our summer camps combine fun with learning through experiential programs that include environmental education, leadership activities, and community service projects, to name a few.
During the camps, youth have a chance to meet people from different backgrounds and spend a week away from home, developing their independence. They are encouraged to challenge themselves within the safe camp environment, and after the immersive week they come out with new friends, new skills, and a sense of empowerment. With your support, we can make the 2019 camps accessible to all, regardless of their financial situation, and can together make a positive investment in Kosovo's youth.
