A day With Police
About 54 children from Karimadom Colony won over their fear for police. The kids visited Fort Police Station and Mingled freely with the police officers there. The students from class 6-12 were all ears to know how a police station functions.
The dream summer camp with motto “chase your dreams” is being organized by Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society. The day with the children was a break down from routine for the police officers too.
Assistant commissioner of police J.K Dinil received the team of students and interacted with the students some of whom wanted to become police officers.
“Since the crimes are rising, we need more talented officers. More students should come forward to join the police force. IF you notice illegal activities in the neighbourhood, you should report it. You must inform teacher, parents or social activists or police officals. At any cost students should not support crime or criminals, “Dinil said to the children.
From the past 25 years, Don Bosco Veedu Society involves in community activities based in Karimadom slum and as part of it, organizes a month- long summer camp for the children from financially backward families every year. There are several students who are interested in joining the police force. The main aim of this visit was to help them to get rid of the fear, to motivate them, to make them aware of how a police station works.
The visit to police station culminated with screening of short films at the hall of the city’s first child friendly police station.
