Summer break for Life Connection Mission's school in Haiti means that over 450 students in pre-K through 13th grades have a lack of structured time, quality education, and one hot meal per school day. In turn, students who have fallen behind in their studies have a harder time catching up, and those dependent on the school's nutritious food are at risk to go hungry. Also, the break means a work hiatus for the Haitian staff, making survival more financially difficult for them and their families.
Summer Camp allows Haitian students of Life Connection Mission's school structured time where those in need of assistance can receive one-on-one instruction from staff. Additionally, children and youth continue receiving nutritious meals over break. Finally, because of the Summer Camp, Haitian school staff can also continue working and providing for their families.
This project will allow 100 Haitian children and youth to attend Summer Camp, which will provide them with tutoring, meals, and fun activities to help them be healthy, successful students that will be prepared to be productive in society.
