FOUNDER I EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SPEAK:
The New School year has started very well as we are completing our first quarter, We are happy that with our new partnership with FNFI - Fidelity National Financial India, we are thrilled that we have restarted our after school program re-launched as “SUKALP” _ “SUKRUPA After School Lifeskill Program” for preteens and teenagers.
Beginning of the school year, teacher’s team had the opportunity to attend wonderful workshop conducted by Mr.Jaikumar of Innervoice along with Dr.Swarnalatha Iyer. Our 10th pass students have joined prestigious institutions such as Christ University and Mount Carmel College. Our Board members have been involved in grooming and mentoring out college students who have stepped into the outside world.
During the first quarter, children at SUKRUPA have been fortunate enough to get a greater exposure to many corporate volunteering initiatives along with regular high quality educational program.
After fifteen years of providing free programs, from this year on as per the suggestion of some of our partners and donors, we have made some minor changes. In order to ensure a sense of participation and belonging we have introduced a nominal welfare amount from affordable families, keeping the background and economic position of the families. To continue providing high quality program to our wonderful children, we continue our fundraising efforts. Please join hands in making our program a success.
SUKRUPA YOUNG ORGANIC GARDENERS
After the launch of "SUKRUPA’s NURTURING YOUNG DREAMS” program in collaboration with “FIDELITY NATIONAL FINANCIAL India” in the month of July. We successfully conducted our first event of the year.
SUYOG – Sukrupa Young Organic Gardeners are back with our organic gardening initiative. The children have been heads on at nurturing the vegetative plants. The gardening initiative has contributed to the increase of relevance and quality of education, improving the children’s and their parents’ knowledge on home gardens and importance of nutrition in every day diet.
In the month of July the children were back on their toes to plant new saplings. This time we planted seeds like Spinach, Amaranth leaves, chilli, coriander and tomato. The Children have been continuously watering, nurturing and taking good care of the vegetable samplings. Bharath one of our ex-student at SUKRUPA taught the children about the different kind of seeds, manure, the use of soil and it’s importance. Each team planted saplings in the planter box and wrote their names on it. We look forward to instilling the children with learning on ‘How to eat healthy’, work as a team. be creative and develop respect for the environment.
CELEBRATING OUR FOUNDERS BIRTHDAY

INDEPENDECE DAY
That moment - 70 years ago – was indeed a long time ago, but year after year SUKRUPA celebrates this historic day. This year was no different and the Independence day celebrations at SUKRUPA was conducted with the customary pride and patriotism. The Chief Guest this year, Dr.Geetha Patil (Pediatrician at Chaitanya Hosital, Bangalore), hoisted the national flag and it was followed by the national anthem. Then it was time for speeches, songs and drills, the heroic patriotism of our martyrs and the uphill task of making India truly free....
INTRODUCTION TO WOOD WORK
We at SUKRUPA continue to create better opportunities and expose the children to various kinds of skills which make them solve problems, be confident and prepare for the future.
Carpentry is an activity that gives children the opportunity to build things. At the same time it helps to develop and practice a wide range of skills. We conducted a one day workshop for children from 7th to 10th Standard on Carpentry skills. The first half of the day's session was run by Institute of Wood Science and Technology Bangalore. The children were divided into teams and provided with the tools and wood.
The children learnt to use the tools, control over their bodies, hand–eye coordination and manipulative skills. Children learnt a wide range of valuable carpentry skills such as measuring, fractions, sawing, drilling and assembling. Hand in hand with the practical skills the children built tables, benches and desks. The children shared their wonderful experiences about learning the art.
PRATHIBHA KARANJI
Students from class 5th to 8th participated in Prathiba Karanji- an inter-school competition. Our children participated in several competitions and won prizes. Anna Marie of class 8 won the third place for extempore. Sagar from 6th Std won the first prize for clay modeling. Vinolya from seventh standard won the third prize for solo singing. Arshiya of 5th standard won the first place for poetry recitation. We look forward to giving opportunities to children to participate in many more competitions.
INTER-SCHOOL SPORTS COMPETITION
Our middle school students participated in the Thaluk level sports competition conducted my BES school in Hebbal. The children claimed the second winning trophies for Kabbadi and Kho-kho.
SUKRUPA AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
SUKRUPA has restarted the after school program after 8 years of break since the school program started in 2008.
As most of the parents are still at work when the children are back from school, children are left on their own resulting in some of the children getting negatively influenced through the community. With the continuous effort to make sure all the children complete high school and get a college degree, founders and management of SUKRUPA, decided to introduce after-school program for pre-teens and teenagers between the age group of 12 to 16. Children get to learn dance, art, tabla, theater, and life skills along with several other skill development programs.
SUKALP is thoroughly thought through, well designed, creative program that grooms the teenagers to realize their inner strength and focus on their potential to achieve their dreams and goals.
CELEBRATING THE GIFT OF TEACHERS
Teaching requires a truly exceptional commitment to devote one's time and energy into nurturing the young minds and building a responsible, talented, motivated future generation. At, SUKRUPA we are proud to have these truly exceptional individuals who not only give the children social and academic support but also give them psychological support to overcome their difficult situations. SUKRUPA celebrated teachers day 4th Sept with our children organist a special program, where they spoke, performed for the teachers. We are very grateful to each of our teachers for being such an integral part of our children's social, emotional and intellectual development.
