This academic year is a beginning of a new adventure SUKRUPA has embarked with its children of learning, creativity, fun and laughter. SUKRUPA has this year strategized its approach differently towards imparting education in the most refined and multidimensional manner.

Education is the key to empowerment, success and a sustainable form of livelihood. We at SUKRUPA believe that every child irrespective of their caste, creed, culture, sex or socio-economic status deserves an opportunity to experience the best. • Increase in the numberof children taking up higher education and skilled employment options.

Activity Report

This quarter we had several activities ranging from volunteer activities, school activities to inter-school activities. The activities were aimed at the overall development of the children.

SUKRUPA started its quarter with welcoming everyone back to school for the academic year 2015-16. After 6 weeks of summer vacation, the students of SUKRUPA were back to their routine of fun learning. It was a warm gathering where all the students, teachers and the staff were looking forward to an exceptional year ahead.

The LKG and Nursery children had a grand welcome reception. A special orientation was also organized for the parents on the importance of their involvement in the child’s physical and emotional development. To mark the occasion Hand prints and Foot prints of the children were taken on separate sheets of paper.

SUKRUPA also had many volunteers visit us and conduct activities for our children. Mrs. Fiona Masterson, and her group of volunteers spent a week with our primary school children teaching them alphabets, music and phonics. Few of the children were also given an introductory class on French. The volunteers divided the children into small groups giving them a more visualized demonstration about the lessons through expressive means.

The Kindergarten children had an exciting and enjoyable time playing with puzzles, molding clay and colouring alphabets. The children were keen and enthusiastic to learn from them.

Our interns, Anupam and Pooja also conducted various activities for the children, one of them being the current affairs session that instilled in the children awareness of what was happening around. Realising the need of the hour, to make children competent in their academics as well as in practical knowledge of the society and things around, The Mega Session was conducted. Prominent news from the months of July and August 2015 were taken as major presentation topics.

SUKRUPA marked the HARITHA Organic Gardening by planting samplings and presenting various programs that bring about environmental awareness. Each child planted a sampling in the form of vertical gardening.

Sukrupa celebrated several international days this quarter, two of which were, “World Environment Day” by making posters and creating environmental awareness in the neighbourhood and the Mandela week by making a difference through a variety of activities celebrating his extraordinary compassion towards human rights and equality. We had an introductory Session on the Life of the Laureate Nelson Mandela by the teacher’s. The teachers, thereafter conducted a quiz competition where the children participated actively.

SUKRUPA participated in the International Music Day Festival called ‘Fête de la Musique’ held at Alliance Française. The children performed from the Bangalore School of Music. The festival of music had participants from various bands, amateur and professional musicians as well as people who enjoy listening to music.

Our Children visited the zoo for a picnic. The children enjoyed the picnic to the Bannerghatta Zoo. They were thrilled to see wildlife at close proximity. It was a day filled with excitement, fun, learning and laughter. The teacher’s from the Primary School assisted the students and the event was followed by Lunch and snacks.

As a part of school activities, SUKRUPA involves its children in alot of creative learning methods, on such activity was conducted for class X students. The Students of Class X enacted a skit from the Mahabharat, The Pandavas on the topic ‘The Enchanted Pool’. The class was dived into 4 groups in order to give each child the opportunity take part in the skit. It was an energetic, enthusiastic, fun and creative historical skit performed by the students. The teachers and the students took time creating the costumes and the choreography.

The class IX students learnt the importance and the uses of Rain Water Harvesting. The Students understood the techniques used for collecting, storing and using rainwater for landscape irrigation and other uses. The students created models and presented in the class to share each ones understanding about the subject.

The First Unit Test for the High School Children was conducted in the second week of July. This year the students are performing better in academics through the multidimensional educational approach SUKRUPA has developed.

Parent’s orientation is very essential in order to let know the development of the child. The Management and the teacher’s at SUKRUPA put forth the importance of parent’s involvement in the social, vocational and emotional development of their children.

We also had the pleasure of having Mr. Dave Shapland from ALD-SG and Mrs. June Shapland be a part of the event and distribute the school supply to the parents.

We Thank Mrs. Theresa Dilley and her family foundation for sponsoring 6 children for the academic year 2015-16. Mrs. Dilley visited us on the 17th of July and interacted with the kids.

The most celebrated event of this quarter was the Celebration of the 69th Indian Independence. Our children had a week long celebration through skits that depicted the freedom struggle to flag hoisting and cultural events on 15th August.

All these events would surely not be possible without the support of our sponsors.

Thank you so much for helping us continue to empower young minds
