Dear Donors,

At first, our heartfelt thanks to all of you for your continued support towards SUKRUPA's cause.

SUKRUPA Education Centre is in the middle of it's acaddemic year 2014-15. It has been a wonderful year so far, with children amidst there classroom learnings have been able to utilise the platform that SUKRUPA has created for them. The highlight being, the Independence Day celebraton at SUKRUPA. The children enacted the ten most important milestones towards India's independence through a series of tableau. Also, the children from high school participated in sporting event called 'Get Fit for kids' - a fun day for them outside their school premise.

This year, so far has been a very fruitful year as we have been having international volunteers throughout. A great window to cross-cultural learning for our children.

Story of Keerthana

Keerthana, a student of Grade IV has been with SUKRUPA since Nursery. The bright eyed curiosity of the child coupled with her ambition is exemplary. When asked about her favourite subjects, her enthusiasm is infectious. “I love English, Hindi, Maths, EVS but I like English the most”, she says brightly. Naturally, her favourite teacher is Leela Ma’am, her English teacher. “She is very kind and teaches us many things. She is like a friend to us and I love her classes.”

Her father Murthy works in a garment store and her mother Krishna Veni is a domestic worker. Keerthana spends her time after school completing her homework and studying with the help of her older brother who is also a student of SUKRUPA and currently in Grade IX. The soft spoken child adds that she aspires to become a doctor. Her good grades reflect her dedication and efforts. She is also popular and has a large circle of close friends. We hope that Keerthana continues to work hard and reaches great heights someday.
