Dear Donors,
Greetings from SUKRUPA!
Hope you enjoy this edition of the quarterly report. It's packed with activities right from Summer Camp to starting of the new academic year 2014-15

LIFE SKILLS
This time, we thought of bringing a small change in our Summer Camp compared to the previous years. The kids that we work with are very talented. However, working solely with them doesn't suffice our goal knowing well that, they come from difficult backgrounds. As such, a small module on life skills were taken each day during the camp, to brace them for a life ahead, which will help to induce the much needed determinants of coping with hurdles in the course of reaching their goals. It is a continuous initiative that we thrive to follow.....

"One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world."-Malala
Every child deserves the right to education...and school supplies.
On June 22nd, we commemorated the new academic year by presenting all the students with books and bags. The ecstatic expressions writ large on the students’ faces as they received their supplies warmed our hearts.

Profiles of Sharath & Komathi
Witten by Rajkumar (Ex-student of SUKRUPA, currently in 12th standard studying in St. Joseph's Pre-University College)
Sharath a student of SUKRUPA is a studious boy studying in 10th Std. He has been with SUKRUPA for the past five years. It has been a long journey for him to be where he actually is now. He was a boy who used work in the fields in his village. He always had the desire of going to school but he thought he would never get that opportunity. SUKRUPA gave him a wonderful life ahead. One day, when he came to SUKRUPA to drop his sister, there was a urge within him to attend school too. He was so excited with the idea that he told his mother he wanted to go to school. Sharath was about 12 years when he came to SUKRUPA. He did not have any basic education till then. Sharath started off as a helper at SUKRUPA. After a few months he was put into nursery. He started learning the alphabets, numbers, and phonics and was able to communicate well in English. He was a very studious boy and and worked really hard. The next year he was put in 1st grade. This way gradually he went to 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th and now this year he is successfully studying in 10th Std. SUKRUPA has been his journey’s success. He is a very disciplined and a hardworking boy. He enjoys spending time with his friends at school. His willingness and hardwork has brought him a bright future ahead of him. Sharath says that “I want to become a successful business man and help many more children who are in need of education like me “
Komathi is a conscientious student from Grade 8. Her strengths include her positive attitude and her diligence. In addition to treating teachers and peers with respect, she strives to achieve high marks in all her subjects, especially in English and Science, her favourites. She aspires to become a Computer Engineer one day. "I want to be successful and help my parents", added the soft spoken child. When asked how she spends her free time, pat came the reply “I love spending time with my family." On Sundays she visits her grandparents who live in a village close by. Her father is a driver and her mother a homemaker. She has three siblings, all of whom are students at SUKRUPA as well.
