Pongal Celebrations

“It was a beautiful day at school because it was the celebration of Pongal. My friends did the invocation song for the program and few of them spoke about the importance of celebrating this festival. There was also a performance by the pre-school kids with sugarcanes. We had sugarcanes and peanuts and the hall was decorated with rangoli, sugarcanes and a pot of Pongal. After the celebration there were greetings made in different languages where this festival is celebrated” - Krupa – 9th Grade

National Voters Day

The high school children participated at the Thaluk level quiz, theatre, essay writing and collage making competition at Malleshwaram girls junior college. Few of them were selected for the district level competition at Hebbal Government School. We are proud to share that our children bagged the 3rd place in theatre and 2nd place in essay writing in the presence of Governor of Karnataka and the Election Commissioners of Karnatatka at Town Hall Bangalore.

Parichaya – Open Day Open Minds

This Open Day we celebrated the festivals of India. It was three splendid days filled with cultural, regional and linguistic diversity. The children portrayed a grandeur display of the importance and history behind the festivals of India.

From the harvest festival of Pongal, to the arrival of Ganesha to the earth from Kailash - Ganesh Chaturthi, to celebrating the victory of Good over Evil - Dussehra, to a month of fasting and prayer during Ramzan and to celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ - Christmas and many more such as Onam, Bakrid, Diwali, Easter, Krishna Janmashtami...

Parents, guests, volunteers and people from far and near came together to witness the great land of festivals.

Theatre at School

The children of 7th and 8th Grade have been learning theatre from a group of independent theatre artists. They have been conducting workshops every Saturday with skills in different forms of acting.

This enables them to transform into socially sensitive and sensible individuals. It has developed the confidence and motivated the children to understand the various aspects of society and how theatre could play an important role in understanding social problems around them.

“Working with the kids has been a beautiful learning experience. I was awed by the enthusiasm and motivation of the children. They were able to think critically and were socially aware of the problems around them” – Ashith I Volunteer

Friends from Austrailia - Jim, Greg and Maria

“What a fun day it was with people from Australia Unlce Jim, Uncle Greg and Aunt Maria. I was so excited to share with them all about India. We were made into small groups and each of us got to present about topics on Agriculture, Music, Sports, States and Religion. My group got the topic on ‘Religion’. We drew a temple, church and masque on the chart, we also added other religions of India. We had twenty minutes to present the topic and it was so much fun sharing”. – Pooja 7th Grade

“Uncle Jim I was so happy when my name was called to receive the gift from you. Thank you for the drawing books and colors” – Nikitha 7th Grade

“To observe Sukrupa is to witness what can be done with minimal resources when dedicatedly generous people commit to making possible in seemingly adverse circumstances. The resources are basic but the love and care and cherishing are multitudinous” – Greg Clune - Greg I Friend from Austrailia
