Greetings to all our donors, friends, and well-wishers. I am happy to present to you the first report of this project. Schools in Uganda have remained closed since mid-March 2020 as a measure put in place to stop the spread of COVID 19. As a result of the school closures, many young girls (and boys) have remained idle and possibly overwhelmed by the COVID 19 stress. The young girls are particularly at constant risk of exposure to teenage pregnancies, early marriage, and being preyed on by sugar daddies.
As a result of the school closures, the project has majorly focused on planning and strategizing as we wait for the schools to open so that we are able to engage the different stakeholders. Sugar Daddy Awareness classes for the young school-going girls remain our major goal although this will only be possible when the schools reopen. The sad reality is that there are different reports that indicate that there is an increase in cases of young girls who are forced to engage in selling sex in return for cash, food, or even sanitary products as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic.
