Summary

This project will provide 1,440 Sugar Daddy Awareness classes to 64,800 school girls aged 14 - 19 years that are at risk of being preyed upon by elderly men as families/households strive to recover from the panic, tension, confusion, and financial stress caused by the COVID - 19 pandemic. Unsuspecting young schoolgirls from rural struggling families will most likely be affected on an unprecedented scale as victims of the dangerous "sex for something" trap to meet their daily/school needs.

Challenge

The Ugandan girl-child faces multiple challenges while trying to get an education because of poverty, violence, early marriages, cultural norms, and practices. Conversations about sex in public remain a "taboo" and many young girls lack knowledge about sex. As a result, sex self-discoveries have led to drastic longterm health and social related consequences. Unsuspecting young girls are taken advantage of by elderly male sexual predators who demand for sex in exchange for something in return.

Solution

SDA classes are not incorporated in the Uganda national syllabus and we are happy to fill this gap by conducting Sugar Daddies Awareness classes for the schoolgirls aged 14 - 19years in agreement with parents, school leaders, and district officials. NAF will train SDA facilitators and equip them with the necessary communication skills/tools to rely on the message to the schoolgirls and other stakeholders in a professional manner all aimed at changing mindsets towards sex education.

Long-Term Impact

The girls stand a chance to complete all levels of education with the skills necessary to navigate and adapt to a changing world. they will be empowered to believe in themselves, change their attitude towards sugar daddies, acquire knowledge on STD prevention and the dangers of engaging in intergenerational sex. In the long term, the girls will benefit from a reduction in teenage pregnancies and dropping out of school. Intergenerational sex as a barrier to girls' education needs to be challenged
