Hello!
Thank you for your support of the These Numbers Have Faces Student Survival Kits for South African Youth project. While we have only raised $250 through GlobalGiving, we recently received a $5,000 donation from a private donor specifically for the Student Survival Kits.
Having visited our program and meeting our students in South Africa, this donor is passionate about making sure our students are equipped to thrive. Often taken for granted here in the USA, it is easy to forget that not all college students have enough food to power their brains, cash for the bus to get to class, pencils and notebooks, sanitary supplies, and the necessary academic support needed to succeed in class.
Unlike most universities in the USA, the colleges in Cape Town do not offer free tutoring and academic support. Tutoring is essential and expensive. Thanks to your support, we are able to ensure our students in Cape Town have the necessary tools to succeed at university.
However, our work is not done. We are adding four additional students in January and continue to evolve the kits in order to meet the needs of individual students. This may be trauma counseling, emergency housing, or additional food stipends.
Thank you for your continued support. The These Numbers Have Faces mission to educate and empower South African youth to ignite community transformation could not move forward without YOU.
