At Friends of Adaklu, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream about their future. But for families in rural Adaklu, the cost of education can be difficult to manage. At the same time, rural schools struggle to attract and retain enough teachers.
To help address both sides of this challenge, Friends of Adaklu has launched two new programs: our Student Sponsorship Program and Teacher Sponsorship Program.
Sponsor a Student
Through our Student Sponsorship Program, donors can be connected with an individual student in Adaklu and help provide the resources that student needs to attend school.
For $35 per month, a sponsorship helps cover school fees, uniforms, books, supplies, and other educational needs. Sponsors will receive updates so they can follow the student's educational journey and see how their support is making a difference.
For a family with limited income, these basic school expenses can become a barrier to education. Sponsorship helps ease that burden and gives a student the opportunity to remain in school and focus on learning.
Sponsor a Teacher
Students also need dedicated teachers in their classrooms. In communities such as Adaklu Dawanu, schools face serious staffing challenges. Teachers travel long distances to reach the community, and rural schools can struggle to maintain the staffing needed to serve their students.
Friends of Adaklu is working with volunteer teachers who teach during the regular school day and also help lead educational activities after school.
Through our Teacher Sponsorship Program, $175 per month provides a teacher with a stipend to help with basic living expenses such as food and housing. This support can make it possible for a dedicated teacher to continue serving in a rural community where their work is greatly needed.
We understand that $175 per month may be more than one person is able to give. A teacher sponsorship can be shared among two or more sponsors.
Teacher sponsorship does more than support one teacher. It helps provide consistent instruction and creates more opportunities for many children to learn.
